Milan Kovacevic is a freelance photographer specializing in photojournalism and architecture based in San Diego. He is also an independent video producer and editor. His documentaries for KPBS-TV include ones on the science of language, the gardens of Balboa Park, San Diego air polution
and the Hotel del Coronado
Milan has a Professional Certificate in Photography from UCSD Extension, is a member of the Professional Photographers of San Diego County (where he received Best In Photojournalism
at a recent Image Competition). He is also a member of the American Society of Media Photographers, San Diego
. Milan has a SDPD Press Pass and contributes regularly
to the KPBS website as a freelance photojournalist. He is also shooting a series on faith communities for the La Jolla Light
Milan uses exclusively professional Canon gear including 5D Mark III cameras and "L" lenses (16-35mm 2.8 II, 24-70mm 2.8 II, 70-200mm 2.8 IS II, 24mm TS-E II).
Before becoming a video producer, editor and photographer, Milan spent a number of years as a programmer/analyst at UCSD and as a senior software engineer in Silicon Valley where he was also a freelance writer for several local newspapers. He also spent a decade as a team leader and trainer at two San Francisco challenge/adventure organizations working with youth and special needs groups. He has an M.S. in Computer Science from U.C. Davis and a B.A. in Mathematics from U.C. Berkeley.
